Biography
Brad Bush is a senior partner in the Los
Angeles County office of Crandall, Wade & Lowe.
Brad has practiced law since 1979.
He joined the firm as a law clerk in 1977 and has been with the firm ever
since.
Brad has been lead counsel on 65 jury
trials that have gone to verdict, which has resulted in him being promoted
to the Advocate level in the American Board of Trial Advocates. In 30 of
Brad's trials, he obtained a defense verdict (the jury awards plaintiff no
money) for his clients. Further, he has a very successful rate at beating
his clients' pre-trial statutory offers, which entitles his clients to their
defense fees. Brad has also been very successful in resolving cases through
arbitration and mediation.
Brad has been honored by being named
a "Southern California Super Lawyer" for 2005. This identifies him as being
one of the "top 5%" and the "crème de la crème" of the Southern California
Bar. He was also listed as a "Southern California Super Lawyer" in Los
Angeles Magazine in February 2005.
Brad's Litigation Unit of Crandall,
Wade & Lowe handles a wide variety of cases, the emphasis of which is on
insurance defense, fraud, premises liability, product liability, and
discrimination cases.
In 2003, Brad tried two jury trials.
First, he obtained a defense verdict against a plaintiff who claimed that
apartment owners and managers discriminated against her based on race.
Second, he obtained a defense verdict against a plaintiff who claimed to
have sustained personal injuries arising out of an automobile accident.
Interestingly, not only did Brad obtain a defense verdict against the
plaintiff, but he also obtained a verdict requiring the plaintiff to pay the
property damage sustained by his client.
Brad has tried other jury trials in
the very recent years. He tried a premises liability case in which he
obtained a defense verdict against a plaintiff who had asked the jury for
$600,000. Next, he tried a premises liability case in which the plaintiff's
demand was $400,000, but the jury's verdict was only $5,000. Additionally,
he tried a 5-1/2 week jury trial against three plaintiffs, alleging sexual
harassment and housing discrimination, who demanded $1,000,000 in statutory
fees alone. Brad obtained a defense verdict against all three plaintiffs.
Finally, Brad defended a client who had been sued by one of the special
prosecutor law firms in Washington D.C., over a contract dispute with that
firm. Brad obtained a defense verdict and the special prosecutor's law firm
was required to pay Brad's client's attorney's fees.
Brad has lectured to college students
on general civil litigation. He has also spoken at seminars on a variety of
topics related to his field.
Brad is a committee chairperson for
the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel. He is a member of
the State Bar of California, and the American Board of Trial Advocates (an
invitation only legal organization of experienced civil trial lawyers). He
is also a volunteer arbitrator for Los Angeles County.
Brad is admitted to practice before
the state and federal courts in California. |
