Biography
Edwin Brown is a senior partner in the
firm’s Irvine office. He has practiced law since 1979 and has served as lead
counsel in over 100 jury trials, court trials and arbitrations.
A well regarded legal orator, Ed has
argued dozens of appeals to the California Supreme Court and Appellate
Courts. A few of his published decisions include the landmark Supreme Court
premises liability case Kentucky Fried Chicken v. Sup. Ct. (1997) and
appellate cases Dominquez v. Sup. Ct. (1985), Agoura Equip. v.
Sup. Ct. (1989),State Farm v. Sup. Ct. (1989), Visueta v.
General Motors (1992), Pamela M. v. Millsom (1994), Rosas v.
Sup. Ct. (1994), Lamden v. La Jolla Shores (1998),
1231 Euclid
Homeowners Assn. v. State Farm Fire & Casualty Co.

Premises Liability:
Considered a nationwide expert on
civil liability by merchants for violent crime on their premises, Ed is
consulted by and represents shopping centers, restaurants, hotels,
homeowners associations and apartment buildings. Ed’s clients include La
Quinta Inns, Taco Bell, Holiday Inn, Hilton Hotels, Wendy’s, Subway,
Bennigans and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Ed’s expertise was featured in an
article in the Orange County Register in April, 1996.
Directors and Officers Liability:
Having represented more than one
hundred homeowners associations or members of their boards of directors in
litigation, Ed is considered an authority on mutual benefit non-profit
corporations and the obligations and liabilities of their lay board members.
Insurance Law:
Ed has been counsel to a number of
major insurance companies in California including State Farm, Allstate,
Twenty First Century and Royal Globe. Ed has also assisted local counsel in
defense of insurance bad faith claims in Nevada, Utah, Texas, Arizona, West
Virginia and New Mexico. |
